First Responders and people, who had undergone times of trauma, may experience a constant flight or fight response that may not turn off, making the transition into “normal” life very difficult.  Sensitive Trauma Yoga can help to unblock the bad memories by gently unlocking rigidly held memories in ways that normal talk therapy might not.  The speech center of the brain often shuts down during trauma leaving the right brain to record the event in visual or sensory events.  Expressing through words can sometimes lead to flashbacks, nightmares, and overwhelming anxiety.  BYoga Haus yoga class focuses on reducing hyper-arousal by evoking the parasympathetic response known as the calm state.  Yoga as a mindfulness practice is our tool for reengaging First Responders with their bodies to restore the connection between mind, heart and body, in a supported space, in addition to their own Wellness programs.
